The options booklet sets out the options available at KS4 and can be viewed here: Link to Options Booklet
In addition to the core curriculum which is studied by everyone, students can choose 3 further options for Key Stage 4. We offer a broad range of courses, ranging from traditional GCSE subjects to vocational qualifications. As one of their options, all students must choose a humanities subject (History or Geography). During our discussions with you, we may well suggest certain subjects that we would recommend an individual student takes at Key Stage 4, so that we offer as broad and balanced a curriculum as possible. The Department for Education recommends that, wherever possible, students should follow an EBacc route (English, Maths, Science, a humanity and a language) to keep as many options as possible open for the future. Therefore, where a student has shown an aptitude in French, we recommend that they continue with a language into Key Stage 4. This video gives an overview of the options available.
We are determined to give our Year 9 students all the information they need to make informed options choices despite the restrictions currently in place because of the pandemic. As well as the information available in the options booklet and the videos on the website, we are inviting all Y9 students and parents / carers to attend an online interview via SchoolCloud. In his video, Mr Morris highlights other sources of support and advice and gives an overview of the process, including deadlines.
These videos give more information about the subjects on offer at Key Stage 4. Please also refer to the course descriptions in the options booklet.
